What is a robot?
A robot is a programmable, autonomous or semi-autonomous machine that can sense its environment, process information, and perform physical actions to achieve a specific task.
Key Characteristics of a Robot:
1. Sensing:
• Uses sensors (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, infrared, touch, temperature) to perceive its environment.
2. Processing & Decision-Making:
• Has a control system (software, AI, or logic-based programming) to process data and make decisions.
3. Actuation:
• Uses motors, actuators, or mechanical limbs to perform tasks (e.g., movement, gripping, assembling).
4. Autonomy:
• Operates with full or partial autonomy, meaning it can act without constant human intervention.
5. Interaction:
• Can interact with objects, humans, or other systems based on programmed instructions.
